Our Vineyard Manager

They say the very best wines are made in the vineyard . The goal of the winemaker is to interfere as little as possible within the winemaking process and to allow the natural character of the grapes is maintained and enhanced. So to make truly great wine we need a great winemaker but also a superb vineyard manager to ensure we really do achieve the very best wine quality from our little spot in Hawkes Bay, East Coast, New Zealand.
Brent, our vineyard manager grew up in Hawkes Bay and has fond memories of long hot summers spent playing and swimming in the rivers that flow down from the Ruahine range in the west. Like many people in the district Brent developed a passion for the outdoors and the wildlife that is to be found there.
Brent began working on farms and orchards soon after leaving school and eventually developed a desire to become a part of the blossoming wine industry. Having completed a Bachelor of Viticulture degree at EIT in Hawkes Bay, Brent began working on and managing vineyards. Brent came to Osawa Wines in 2006.
In 2012 Brent achieved one of his own major goals and was truly delighted to learn that the wine from his grapes had won the trophy for sweet wine at the local Hawkes Bay A&P Wine Awards. This is one of the few times each year we get to meet so many others from the local wine industry in a relaxed environment.
